SOME of the biggest names in Hollywood showed up for a December benefit fashion show to help L.A. Shanti with AIDS education. Twenty make-up artists from M·A·C, along with some of Hollywood's top hairstylists (including Arrick), donated their time to help make these stars shine even brighter.
ARRICK'S pal and good friend, clothing designer Charlie Lapson, showed off some of his hottest fashions on celebrities Marla Maples, Victor Webster ("Days of Our Lives"), Tippi Hedren, Adrienne Frantz, Ashley Lyn Cafagna ("The Bold and The Beautiful"), Mary Elizabeth Winstead ("Passions"), and Cloris Leachman.
OTHER celebrities on hand to watch the event included Rod Stewart and Rachel Hunter, which was followed with a big after-party bash that went on 'til the wee hours.
"WE did ultra high fashion hair and make-up," says Arrick. "The clothing was modern, with a millennium twist. Lots of glitter and metallic in the clothing, so we interpreted that into the hair. It was very powerful and effective."

YOUNG AND RESTLESS - IN
Y&R Hairstylist Arrick Anderson appears as, of all things, a hairstylist, on Friday, January 21. Look for Anderson to give Heather Tom's Victoria a 1940s-style makeover!

THE IN DEPTH STORY: "The scene was so easy because I know Heather so well," the "locks smith" tells Soaps in Depth. "I do her hair every day and see her first thing in the morning."
IN the episode, Victoria makes her triumphant return as Brash & Sassy's spokesmodel and is featured in a new toned-down ad campaign. "Excecutive producer Ed Scott wanted Victoria to have a '40s-period hairstyle," explains Anderson, "so we worked on it all morning before it was time to do the scene. Originally, Victoria was to take her hair down, to have it fall into a more modern look, but director Kathy Foster decided it was not necessary, which made my job a lot easier!"
ANDERSON is no stranger to stepping in front of the camera. "I started as an actor years ago, only to find my true niche lies behind the scenes," he says. "I enjoy making actors and actresses feel and look their best before they go on camera. I really get a kick out of it. Especially when I look up at our Y&R TV monitor in the hair and make-up room and think, 'He or she looks fantastic!' That makes me feel good, knowing I had a hand in it."
LAST year, Arrick was called into service for the Soap Opera Awards.
SITTING in his chair for their big night were Bobbie Eakes, Sabryn Genet, Tamara Clatterbuck, and Jennifer Gareis.
ARRICK comments on each of his clients that night:

With Sabryn Genet (Tricia, Y&R), we decided to go with a more classic look: a traditional French twist, with some pieces hanging down to frame her face - the result was stunning and sophisticated.
Jennifer Gareis (Grace, Y&R) has really long, naturally straight hair. We decided to go all out, the opposite of her character "Grace." We rolled her hair in very small rollers and loosely piled the hair up, leaving plenty hanging down for a great party look.
Bobbie Eakes (Macy, B&B) had a beautiful pale green gown, with plenty of embroidery. She wanted to wear her hair down, so we went with a glamorous, sleek movie-star look, which worked out perfectly.
Tamara Clatterbuck (Alice, Y&R) has an "out there" personality, so it was appropriate for a really trendy, "funky" up-do, all sorts of twists and pieces of hair sticking straight "out there." We finished it off with a couple of jeweled flower pins. The photographers loved it!
